The Canford paper no longer holds its original appeal. Its desirable properties are waylaid by its impracticality as a printing paper. Unfortunately after several weeks of vigorous testing the paper has failed to wield satisfactory results forcing me to consider new paper stocks. It is an annoying set back but with no pre-set knowledge it is to be expected. As before, quality must be the staple.

Below are journal notes detailing the books progress, the journey is almost a separate project all in its self. There are so many things that are crucial to a successful publication that I had never even considered before. Having the benefit of time allows me a trial and error approach. Though the final product still eludes me, I continue to throw energy toward the goal.

the goggles do nothing

Unfortunately as part of the academic structure behind this blog I have to force upon you a selection of websites that I deem to be poor. Here are a few that I have stumbled upon, although I may revisit them to torture my eyes.

I am unsure what this first site is about but it appears to include everything. I assume it’s supposed to be some sort of shopping experience. There’s plenty to look at which in this instance is not a good thing.

Clashing colours, bouncing text boxes, visual explosions, man with moustache, man with moustache again, animated tiger, death knight thingy, toxic teddy bear and a huge mobile phone all on board...but what’s it all about? I have no idea. The message is lost in a pop art nightmare. For a moment I feel as if I’ve loaded myself up on LSD and landed inside a Warhol.  If this is designed to scare people it does so with great zeal and should be commended for its efforts.  The poor navigation is dominated by a current of attention seeking pop ups, making for an unbearable experience. This site has a kitsch undercurrent that quickly loses appeal. Scrolling over the icons keeps me entertained for a while but the abrasive colour scheme and lack of purpose leaves me feeling disorientated.

Ex Drummer

For those with a hardened stomach and the patience for subtitles this gritty film is a must see. Its chaotic, filthy and sometimes brutal portrayal of the world left me feeling alittle unclean. It touches on themes of misogyny, manipulation, poverty, death, homophobia, suicide, drug addiction, homosexuality, thuggery and rape. Aside from its dark aspects the film is aesthetically pleasing and holds an interesting stance on narrative.
